The airline was established on 27 July 2001 as SixCargo. The name was changed to Fly Wex on 30 August 2004. It is owned by Alberto Leali, Chief Executive, (35%), Luigi Franceschetti, Chairman, (35%) and Paolo Mondini (30%).[1]
