[edit] Nowhere

I won't say I don't believe you about Nowhere (Norfolk) but can you see it on this Victorian "one inch" map or this "six inch" map even after scrolling from the locations I have selected? -- RHaworth 14:20, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Hi Roger - I didn't know about it before today either, but here's a citation from several 19th century directories which talk about it. I haven't had any success in finding it on your map I'm afraid, but will keep trying to find one with it on. fluoronaut 18:18, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Apart from the trivial matter that your link above does not work, an execellent reply! (We use | for piping internal links but space for external ones - very confusing.) Clearly Nowhere is further from Acle than I thought but I still can't find it on maps. But no matter, we have got good sound references. I am into the geograph project so looking at the map with some squares containing nothing but drains, I was thinking how could anyone get a decent geograph for here? I also was a bit puzzled by contour lines appearing until I realised that it is the Sea Level contour! -- RHaworth 03:40, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

  • The geograph project is a fantastic site - I might have a go at some photos in the summer! Which are the squares you were looking at with drains? I might be able to tell you what's there, because I know the area a bit. fluoronaut 09:03, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Like most of this 10 km square. I reckon Nowhere is possibly all three squares NW, N and NE of South Walsham Mill. -- RHaworth 10:20, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Aha, that's the Norfolk Broads. I have emailed my father about this because he's from the area and knows it much better than I do. He may well know something about Nowhere. (ha ha) fluoronaut 10:38, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

Thought I'd drop a note after the brief discussion on the Tírechán article. I enjoyed your short bio on your userpage; you and I have had similar life trajectories with regard to career and education. Looking forward to further collaboration, Dppowell 19:37, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
