[edit] It does not only apply to vineyards
Currently this article appears to imply that Flurbereinigung applies specifically to vineyards. The German article, however, indicates that the term is much more general and can be applied to similar types of arraignments in other agricultural settings.Ekem (talk) 01:21, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ahh. Unfortunately my sources (wine books and website) only deal with the vineyard aspect of the term and its influence on the German wine industry. If you have access to German language or other resources that talk about in the broader context, then by all means feel free to include it. :) AgneCheese/Wine 23:54, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I defined the term following the points as espoused in the German website,- as a beginning. Of course, later additions as Flurbereinigung affects other agricultural settings can be added to the article, but I do not enough about it to tackle this.Ekem (talk) 00:37, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] upgrade their plantings from the lower-quality Müller-Thurgau grape to the high quality Riesling vine
Flurbereinigung has nothing to do with upgrading. If a site is valuable enough to grow Riesling, nobody would grow Müller-Thurgau. It is fatal for Müller-Thurgau to produce acceptable wines in fringe vine conditions, but shit happens.... So the Flurbereinigung only provides the opportunity to take into consideration what type of grape should provide the greatest benefit on this site, but it does not change the sites Terroir. --Symposiarch (talk) 22:04, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
