[edit] Flux - Online Community Platform
Flux is the name of a software platform designed to facilitate online communities. It provides web-based tools to add social networking capabilities to an existing web site. It supports content sharing, member profiles, customized page layouts, photo and video uploads, and easy technical integration, according to the official web site [1].
The Flux platform is created by and supported by an organization called Social Project [2], located in Santa Monica, California. They describe their business model for the Flux platform as a revenue share from advertising on the new pages they help their customer/partners operate. Organizations which use the platform include: MTV Networks, I4U News, and musical artists such as Sheryl Crow, 50 Cent and the Pussycat Dolls.
According to an article in Web 2.0 Journal [3], Social Project was spun off by Viacom Corp., which owns MTV Networks and other web sites such as [Sk8site.com].
