A flushing trough apparatus which serves several WC pans from one long cistern body. It is designed in this way to allow more frequent flushing.
Flushing throughs are used in places such as schools, colleges, public toilets and factories and public buildings were quick refill of the flushing cistern is required. Syphonic action is started in the same way as an ordinary flushing cistern and as the water is syphoned, the water level falls only inside a 'timing' box designed to permit the required flush only. Thus when the timing box has been syphoned of water air gets in through an air pipe and breaks the main bulk of syphonic action. After a short period of time, the timing box refills with water through a hole in its side, the cistern is then ready for flushing again.
