[edit] License tagging for Image:Equalityriders.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Equalityriders.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:04, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AMA request

Brief: A user who disapproves of the Equality Ride continuously removes the majority of the Equality Ride article. All information in the article can be verified in publications like The Advocate, Sojourners Magazine, The LA Times, The Washington Post, the St. Petersburg Times, etc, etc, etc. This user, however, has changed this verifiable information repeatedly in order to cast a negative light on the Equality Ride. Furthermore, he adds unverifiable opinions criticizing the Equality Ride without even bothering to write it in Neutral Voice. I have reverted this article several times now and it's getting old. He has not responded to me on the discussion board, either. I believe he's using two or three different usernames on Wikipedia. Please help. The Equality Ride was a good thing, and I don't want to see this article become a slander zone with unverifiable critical content. (read full description) -- Flowingfire 21:08, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

This is really just a simple case of vandalism - I've warned the vandal (single use account [1]) - hopefully that's as far as it'll go. (I've moved this from the AMA page to here). If the user continues to blank the article, please let me know on my talk page, and I'll warn him a bit more . If he still persists, a sysop may ban the user, but it's best to see if the warning works first, and four warnings must be issued before a ban is given. Hope this has helped a bit :) Martinp23 21:23, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
I hope this is OK - If the user starts deleting content again without reason, I'll warn him, and if he continues he'll get a ban (I've got the page on my watchlist, so I'll clear up his edits quickly). Based on the nature of the case, I've closed it at the AMA board, because there's not much we can do except revert and warn. I've also left a message on the vandal's talk page explaining the policy to him - could you let me know on my talk page if you're happy with the resolution (as it is now)? Thanks Martinp23 21:35, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Glad to have been of some help :) I'll keep an eye on the situation and if needed, report the user to an admin for blocking (probably after I apply a few more warnings). PS - to get a signature automatically generated at the end of your messages, just type ~~~~. The signature is just a link to your userpage, but it greatly improves talkpage readability -- Martinp23 21:47, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Sorry I didn't contact you earlier - but now I am doing, I'm happy to say that as of your last message to me (ages ago), the vandal has been banned by an admin, at my request. If there are any further problems, please let me know ;). Martinp23 19:28, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your contributions to the pederasty section

Thanks for weighing in with your views, but while you are certainly right that there are some aspects of pederasty which have nothing to do with legitimate LGBT experience, there are others which relate directly with it in the past and in the present. If you took a moment to read over the articles you may come to agree. At any rate I do not think the solution lies in attempting to delete connections - it is something that is attempted periodically and has failed for logical, not political, reasons. [edit] Image:Equalityriders.jpg

Hi. When you uploaded Image:Equalityriders.jpg, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.

Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 21:59, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:EqualityRideCrowd-John Lewis.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Equalityriders2.jpg. The copy called Image:Equalityriders2.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 19:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Buspic.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Buspic.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 00:20, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Equalityu.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Equalityu.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:58, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
