Talk:Floral symmetry

Not only is it short, it is wrong too. Brya 08:29, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
Hasn't anybody else noticed that "actinomorphous" is a rather peculiar spelling? I can't recall having ever encountered it; the term as universally spelled, at least in current literature, is "actinomorphic". If this material is kept at all, it should be moved to an article with that spelling. (I'm assuming this is what Brya was referring to, although I could be wrong as his/her comment was rather cryptic.) MrDarwin 01:36, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, actually, I think the term is actinomorphic--this is why I need a copy editor. But I didn't notice this. It could be expanded as well to show the evolution towards zygomorphic flowers, and actually floral symmetry is often mirror plane symmetry, not real radial symmetry. Although less derived flowers may have real radial symmetry. It probably needs more research. KP Botany 01:53, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

- Agree on -ic spelling; move done - MPF 13:17, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
The article as written was overly narrow and nothing more than a dictionary definition. I've moved & rewritten as a more general article about floral symmetry, which can be greatly expanded. MrDarwin 18:18, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
