Florrie Baldwin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Florence Emily "Florrie" Baldwin (born March 31, 1896) is a supercentenarian and, at 112, believed to be the oldest person in the United Kingdom following the February 9, 2007 death of 111-year-old Aida Mason.[1] As of April 2008, she is one of the 20 oldest verified people in the world.
Born Florence Davies in Hunslet, she married engineer Clifford Baldwin in 1920.[2] After his death in 1973, Baldwin lived alone until she was 105, when she moved to Radcliffe Gardens, a nursing home in Leeds.[1][3]
She remembers the Boer War and meeting Queen Victoria.[4]
Guinness World Records paid her a visit when Baldwin became the new English recordholder.[5]
She reportedly credits her longevity to eating a fried egg sandwich every day.[6][7]
