The Florida black bass is a species of largemouth bass, found mostly in Florida, and is being introduced to other fisheries across the southeast and even California, because of its hardiness. The largemouth bass comprises two subspecies, the northern bass and the Florida bass. The pure northern bass occurs across the northern tier of states from New England through the Mid-West. The pure Florida bass occurs only from the lower portion of the Sunshine State.
