State Road 85, or SR 85, is a north-south state highway that runs from State Route 55 at the Florida/Alabama state line south to US 98 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. South of Crestview, Florida this highway is a four-lane divided highway running through Eglin Air Force Base with a speed limit of 65 MPH. North of Crestview and running to the Alabama line this is a two-lane rural highway. Plans are to expand this section of highway to four lanes once Alabama makes their State Route 55 four lanes. This is to provide both a better hurricane evacuation route from Okaloosa County as well as a more direct route to Destin, Florida and Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
