Florida State Road 834
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- The State Road 834 designation was originally used for what is now State Road 948.
Locally known as Sample Road, State Road 834 is a 12.8-mile-long east-west commuter highway serving northern Broward County, Florida. Its western terminus is an intersection with the Sawgrass Expressway (SR 869) in Coral Springs; the eastern terminus is an intersection with North Federal Highway (US 1-SR 5) at the city limits boundary between Deerfield Beach and Lighthouse Point. Eastbound travelers overshooting the SR 834 terminus find themselves on a 1.0-mile-long 36th Street in Lighthouse Point. Thirty-Sixth Street dead-ends at a canal cut for the Intracoastal Waterway.
In addition to those at the termini of SR 834, cities served by Sample Road include Margate, Coconut Creek, and Pompano Beach. Near an interchange with Florida's Turnpike is Tradewinds Park, home of Butterfly World and an annual site of a drive-through Christmas light display.
