Florida State Road 805
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A 10.8-mile-long street locally known as Dixie Highway, State Road 805 is presently part of U.S. Route 1 in three cities of Palm Beach County, Florida (at one time, the northbound lanes of US 1 formed a section of State Road 5, the Florida Department of Transportation designation for the rest of US 1 south of Jacksonville; and southbound lanes of US 1 followed SR 805 three blocks to the west). The northern terminus of SR 805 is an intersection with Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard in West Palm Beach (north of the intersection is two-way US 1, with a hidden SR 5 designation). Vehicles traveling the length of SR 805 pass through West Palm Beach and Lake Worth before reaching its southern terminus, a “merger” with SR 5 just inside the Lantana city limits.
While SR 5 is hidden elsewhere in the Sunshine State, both SR 5 and SR 805 signs appeared beside the roadway of US 1 in West Palm Beach and Lake Worth when US 1 used both State Roads as a one-way pair. At that time, this was a rare instance where two separate parallel State Roads comprised a U.S. Highway.
