Florida State Road 514

State Road 514, also known as Malabar Road, is an east-west highway that serves Palm Bay and Malabar, Florida. It is the only east-west Brevard County major road to be in the 27th and 28th degrees lattitude. It is the dividing line between north and south Palm Bay. The Palm Bay Police Department refers to it as the "Boulevard". It is 10 miles long. Between the town limits of Malabar and U.S. Route 1, the speed limit is 55 with 2 lanes. Both the city halls of Palm Bay and Malabar are located on this road. Through the city of Palm Bay, Florida, the road opens to four-to-six lanes. At the western end of Palm Bay, the road is again 2 lanes wide, with a speed limit of 45 because the area is largely residential. West of Palm Bay Regional Park, the road becomes a dirt road and passes the Indian Fields. For one-and-a-half miles, the roads remains unpaved. It then turns to a north-south road as it enters Three Forks Marsh Conservation Area and is again paved for one mile. The true western terminus of Malabar Road is within the Three Forks Marsh Conservation Area.

There is a proposed causeway over the Indian River Lagoon east of U.S. Route 1, that would extend the state road for two miles. The road might be too close to the lagoon. If it was built, it would be 12 miles long. Because of a condominium community on the barrier island, it would steer away from it and head directly east-west to Florida State Road A1A.
