The Flint Phantoms are a team in the Continental Indoor Football League set to begin play for the 2008 season. They will play their home games at the Perani Arena and Event Center, which was previously home to the Indoor Football League's Flint Flames in 2000, and later the playoff home for the defunct Michigan Pirates in 2007.
[edit] History
With the limited success of as playoff home for the defunct Michigan Pirates in 2007, Pete Norager, one of the owners of Michigan Pirates, decided to start a replacement team in Flint and was announced on December 18, 2007. In February 2008, Norager withdrew from owning the team. Currently, the Perani Group is running the team pending the select of a new owner with a temporary investment group.[1] Do the lack of attendance, payments to players have been delayed near the end of 2007 season.[2] The Phantoms to head to their last game 2007 with 9-10 from the roster and looking to semi-pro teams for additional players due to other commitments or disguntled do to late pay. [3] However, on the day of the game Rochester game, only 11 players were available but needing 16 to field a team force a forfeit.[4]
