[edit] Plot
[edit] Part 1
Heart Throb, Locket and Twilight are racing when a huge bird flies past, narrowly missing them. A young man named Garth follows it, trying and failing to catch it with a net. When he sees that Heart Throb has wings, he demands that she take him for a flight, explaining that he needs to reach a floating castle in the sky, and there awaken his true love with a kiss. Heart Throb is immediately won over by such a romantic tale, and she allows Garth to ride her to the castle, with Twilight and Locket following.
Whenever the ponies approach the castle, it swiftly flies off in the opposite direction. Locket's best attempts to catch up with it fail, and so the ponies try a confusion tactic, approaching the castle from three sides. The castle stalls, and Heart Throb is about to land when she is attacked by an Undeen, a huge sea monster. Locket meanwhile falls foul of a fire-throwing salamander. Twilight has the idea to use Garth's rope, and each pony lassoos one of the castle's steeples. It begins to spin rapidly, and they are all hurled at great speed towards the nearby mountain...
[edit] Part 2
Garth uses magic to turn the rockface into mud, and they all make a soft landing. He explains that he's an elf, and has control over stone and earth. Heart Throb then has the idea to pit the two monsters against each other. With some crafty flying, the ponies cause the Salamander to be drenched and the Undeen's pond to be burned dry, and finally enter Cloud Castle.
Inside, Garth finds his sleeping love, Ariel, but the monsters have quickly recovered. The Salamander sets the room on fire, cutting Garth off from Aeriel, while the Undeen immobilises the ponies. Garth once more draws the Salamander's fire onto the Undeen, and Heart Throb flies him over to Ariel to deliver the kiss. As soon as he does, the monsters transform into two elf men, Ferdinand and Andrew. They explain that they were enchanted by Ariel's father to be her protectors until she could be rescued by her true love. Ariel however wants no part of this - she refuses Garth's attention, saying she's not ready for love.
With the spell broken, the castle plummets to the earth, but Garth softens the ground below and it makes a soft landing. As the ponies make bid the elves goodbye, Ariel takes Garth's hand, telling him that while she's not ready for love now, it's always a possibility for the future.
