Flight of the Eagle is the English title for the 1982 Swedish movie Ingenjör Andrées luftfärd. The movie is based on Per Olof Sundman's novelization of the true story of the ill-fated attempt to fly over the North Pole in a hydrogen balloon by Salomon August Andrée in 1897. The film starred Max von Sydow, Sverre Anker Ousdal, and Göran Stangertz as S.A. Andrée, Knut Fränkel and Nils Strindberg. Dutch-Swedish songwriter Cornelis Vreeswijk played the role of Sven Lundström, who wrote a book about Andrée and his expedition.
