[edit] City of Essendon

Removed the see also to City of Essendon. Though Flemington was briefly part of City of Essendon, it broke away in 1882, and since then due to ever-changing boundaries and council names, has been in three different cities in the century that followed. Format (talk) 05:08, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it seems to have split away into its own Borough of Flemington and Kensington in 1882, then became part of City of Melbourne in 1905 and is still for the most part there. The confusion arises as one tiny bit of it was kept in the City of Essendon, which ended up in Moonee Valley. Orderinchaos 05:59, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes except most of the suburb is in City of Moonee Valley now; only a small corner in the Sout hEast is still in City of Melbourne. Should this all be added to the article? Format (talk) 06:24, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Probably should, yeah. Orderinchaos 06:37, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Sounds like the 'See also' section ought to have links to City of Essendon, Borough of Flemington and Kensington and City of Melbourne - or a section that sets out its history of within each LGA - dates, etc. so that its history is accurately portrayed. The other question of course is what effect does this have on the articles on City of Essendon, BoF&K, CoM, etc. - ideally they'd reflect this history too. Its something that will crop up in a number of other articles as well. Eyedubya (talk) 07:26, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I see you've already added this to the article - any chance of some references? Eyedubya (talk) 07:36, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
The CoE and CoM articles already contained the information with references, the BoF&K article doesn't/didn't exist, mainly because it existed solely before 1915 and hence I couldn't get meaningful info on it (the State Library of Victoria only has back to 1915 for the Municipal Directories) Orderinchaos 08:07, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for adding the references. The dinnerbell rang while I was working on the pages. Format (talk) 08:45, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
