Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood was the second album released in 1998 by rapper DMX. It featured a controversial cover photo of the rapper covered in actual pig blood. It entered the charts at number one (and stayed there for 3 consecutive weeks) with an impressive 670,000 units shipped in the first week. The album eventually went 3x platinum. DMX released his debut album It's Dark and Hell Is Hot in 1998 as well. He was the second rapper to have two albums released in the same year debut at number one on Billboard's Top 200, the first being Tupac Shakur with his album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. All but his latest album Year of the Dog… Again have debuted at number one. The single "Slippin'" became his first chart hit in the UK and is censored on both the "censored" and "explicit" versions of the USA release of the album. Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood was also released in a censored version with most profanity replaced with sound effects and explicit violence left uncensored. Drug content was also left uncensored in both versions of the album.
