Flesh is a self-released demo EP by Swiss Industrial metal band Apollyon Sun, released in 2002. This CD was manufactured in a limited quantity exclusively for the purpose of shopping the Apollyon Sun project to the recording industry and not released to the public. The Flesh demo only showcases glimpses of a few songs intended for Flesh. The album never even remotely reached a status of completion. The plans for the album was unofficially dissolved in late 2001, early 2002 when Fischer and Erol Unala started to contribute more and more to the reformation of Celtic Frost.
Work on Apollyon Sun's third album, tentatively titled Flesh, began as early as 2000, this time at the band's own newly expanded studio facilities in Switzerland as well as at Unala's and Fischer's home recording studios.
One further track was debuted on the band official website, called "Mouthful Of Lies."
Produced by Fischer/Unala, engineered by G. Dolci and Walter Schmid. Mixed and Mastered by Walter Schmid at Oakland Recording, Switzerland. Recorded at Dreamsound Studio and Oakland Recording, Switzerland, kap10kurt Mobile Recording Unit, New York City.
Prior to the demo release, the Flesh track listing was announced as: "Solitary Lodge," "Nova," "Deep Inside," "All Gone Dead," "The Beautiful End," "Mouthful of Lies," "Apple on a Tree," "Winter," "Wanker God" (retitled "Human Dirt"), "Lagrange Point," and "Superbug". However the album was far from completion. No track list nor any sequence of the songs contained was ever finished, these titles are an assemblage of some of the songs Apollyon Sun had already written at the time. “Human Dirt” is not the same song (lyrically nor musically) which appeared on Celtic Frost's Prototype demo, the latter was written specifically for Celtic Frost. Also “Winter” is not identical to “Winter” which appears on Celtic Frost's Monotheist.
In 2001, the resurgence of Celtic Frost and the songwriting and recording work for Celtic Frost's first album in 13 years served to temporarily put Apollyon Sun on hiatus and interrupt work on Flesh - Celtic Frost had not only required Fischer's services again but also invited Unala to join the re-formed project as the band's guitarist and programmer.
It was Tom Gabriel Fischer's insistence that none of the material here would be used for Celtic Frost's Monotheist album, that all new material would be written by the band.
