From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 4231 menu is a hidden menu on many Coca-Cola vending machines. It is accessed by pressing the button sequence 4-2-3-1. On most machines without number keys, it is accessed by pressing the fourth button from the top, the second button from the top, etc.

[edit] Menu navigation

Pressing button 1 will exit whichever option you are in. On some machines, it can also exit the menu itself; otherwise you must select rtn in the menu. Buttons 2 and 3 cycle through menu options, and button 4 selects an option.

[edit] Menu options

When entering the menu, either Eror or CASH will appear on the screen. These are just two of four menu items accessible from this menu, which are Eror, CASH, SALE, and rtn.

[edit] Eror

This option gives a list of recent errors. Once selected the most recent error's code will appear, such as StS or SELS. You can press buttons 2 and 3 to scroll through the errors. Pressing button 4 will cause details about the error to appear, and pressing 1 will return to the error itself. While the details are visible, holding down button 4 will delete the selected error from the log.
If there are no errors, nOnE will appear on the screen.

[edit] CASH and SALE

These two options are almost identical. When one is selected, the total number of drinks sold (SALE) or the total number of cents collected (CASH) will flash along with the menu option selected. Buttons 2 and 3 will select an individual product (by button number) to show information about.

[edit] VEr

On older machines, instead of CASH, VEr will be listed. This apparently only displays the firmware version. However, in one Google video, it apparently can change the price even without the administrative menu active. If this is real, it is probably a glitch.

[edit] Rtn

This item doesn't need much explanation; when selected it simply exits from the menu. On some machines this can also be accomplished by holding down the coin return button.

[edit] Administrative mode

Extra options will be displayed if the machine's door is opened, such as setting prices or enabling these options without the door open (from the regular 4231 menu).
