[edit] What it looks like
Hello, Flag-editor … I recently encountered the article about Article-name and in my opinion, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for one of the following guidelines for inclusion on Wikipedia: Academics, Biographies, Organizations and companies, Fiction, Films, Music, Schools, Web content, or several proposals for new guidelines, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.
I am considering tagging Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.
for deletion according to theI have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.
Be sure to read Ownership of articles, and remember that other editors may not share your opinion about the notability of the article's subject.
I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Your first article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now, and I am always available to help you become a more proactive contributor.
[edit] When to use
This template was originally intended to alert another editor that you are considering the deletion of an article by leaving a message on their User Talk page; this is the 2nd Step of the Protocol to minimize friction from proposed and speedy deletions.
As it turns out, editors may also use this template to flag the questionable editor's creative activities for closer scrutiny during future sessions.
This template adds the editor's Talk page to Category:Flagged editors.
[edit] Usage
Depending on how you do it, you may or may not want the template to automagically generate a section header.
Note that no default signature is provided, so you should either append "~~~~" or your own custom signature. Also, this template must be substituted.
Default: {{subst:Flag-editor |(Article-name) |(Guideline)}}.
- No section header is generated. (Article-name) is the only required argument. Omitting (Guideline) will result in a generic but rather verbose message with a comprehensive list of notability guidelines, so one should always be specified.
- The recognized values for (Guideline) are:
Linked Header: {{subst:Flag-editor |(Article-name) |(Guideline) |header=1}}.
- == Flagging Article-name for further review ==
Custom Header: {{subst:Flag-editor |(Article-name) |(Guideline) |header=1 |header-text=(your header text)}}.
- == your header text ==
Note: You must provide (Article-name), or else it will not display correctly.
[edit] Optional parameter
If you are not feeling particularly helpful, then you may addnoassist=1
to otherwise the… and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now
... and I am always available to help you become a more proactive contributor.
{{subst:Flag-editor |(article-name) |(Guideline) |header=1 |noassist=1 }}.
[edit] Removal of speedy deletion tag
Note that this template also includes the following {{Drmspeedy1}}
template in a comment at the end ... this is in case the author removes the {{Db}}
and you (or Some Other Editor) need to give them a warning ... just remove the comment tags and you have a generic warning in front of your previous signature.
<!-- ===Removal of speedy deletion tag=== {{subst:Drmspeedy1}} ... DO NOT remove the <code>{{tl|Db}}</code> tag yourself! I have restored it ... please read [[Wikipedia:Three-revert rule]] and don't do it again, or you may get [[WP:BLOCK|blocked]] from editing here. -->
