[edit] Lake caused by subsidence
I know this isn't wiktionary but ... a "Flash" is a common term in the north west of England for a lake or mere formed by subsidence (eg. from salt mining). Examples include Pennington Flash Country Park (mentioned in this article) and these flashes in Cheshire. Richard W.M. Jones (talk) 12:11, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
