[edit] Renaming
Would anyone object to a name change to "Flash (Golden Age)"? He's probably better known by his superhero name, and it isn't like he's had any other identities. WesleyDodds 04:53, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure it's the best idea. He's seen more appearances since the end of the Golden Age than he did during it, and it looks like he might be a strong supporting character if not the Flash the new Flash comic. I just don't feel that it's really an appropriate name for him. The tendency has been to call variations that merit their own page by their real name (Kal-L, Dick Grayson, Jaime Reyes, Hal Jordan, Wally West, etc.) Maybe a redirect from there.CovenantD 05:14, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

- I've discussed the tendency to name characters by their civilian names elsewhere, and I haven't got a clear response for it. I can understand using the civilian name if the character has had a number of aliases like Dick Grayson or Hal Jordan, but when it's merely a different version of the same character, I find a lot of inconsistency. For example, the Sandman and Starman characters are all named with modifiers in parentheses, which I feel really helps searching and disambiguation. A lot of people don't know these characters' civilian names, and it's a bit much to expect people to. WesleyDodds 06:16, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

- What about "Flash (Jay Garrick)"?? Roygbiv666 02:16, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

- That's certainly fine. As long as "Flash" is there in some form. Most people if they're interested in searching for the character through various means for various reasons probably wouldn't be familiar with just "Jay Garrick". WesleyDodds 22:24, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
What makes you think that they'll know to enter Flash (Jay Garrick) then? Of the two, I'd say Jay Garrick is the clearer option.I think it's a really poor naming system, but whatever. CovenantD 23:02, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

- Well, there would still need to be the main "Flash (Comics)" entry, but the sub-entires for the various Flashes could be called "Flash (Secret Identity)" Roygbiv666 00:58, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Garrick ross.jpg
Image:Garrick ross.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:36, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Removal of false info
I removed the following section:
"There's a younger counterpart of Jay Garrick who wears a similar costume but seen in The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive #6 (2006). Another version of Garrick (or a character in a similar costume) appears in 52: Week 52 (2007) on "Earth-2"."
because that version is the original Garrick. The "youthfulness" is the result of his aging being slowed down. I have those issues mentioned and I made sure to check the validity of this.
[edit] Mercury's Helmet
Mention may be helpful, under powers and abilities to list Jay's helmet. Not only is it a fashionable and stylish nod to the God of Speed, but also it has been used on several occassions as both an offensive and defensive weapon. I wasn't sure how notable this was, but I wanted to throw the idea out there.66.109.248.114 21:49, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
