[edit] Proposed Change
The Alberta flag the Wikipedia does not appear to be a faithful reproduction of the actual flag used by the Government of Alberta.
Compare these two versions:
Current
Alternative
If you look at government material and actual flags being flown you will notice the second is much more faithful (e.g. http://tprc.alberta.ca/about/emblems/bearings.aspx).
What do people think? Should we change the flag on Wikipedia to this version? If so do we need to take a vote? --Tvwade (talk) 07:37, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I don't think it really matters. Both versions follow the blazon, so should be considered correct. The sole exception being the sky in the shield of the second version (is that violet color correct, or should it be blue)? --Qyd (talk) 16:28, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

- I decided to look further into the colours and some official colours have been declared:
- From the Emblems of Alberta Act :
- Flag of Alberta - 3 (3) The blue of the Flag shall be a shade of blue conforming with the Canadian General Standards Board, Specification 1-GP-12c-P.II, 1965: Standard paint colour-blue 202-101.
- Official colours - 9 The following colours are hereby adopted as the official provincial colours:
- blue-Canadian General Standards Board, standard 1-GP-12c, 202-101
- gold/deep yellow-Canadian General Standards Board, standard 1-GP-12c, 505-311
- While I cannot afford to pay to retrieve the Canadian General Standards Board documents, I hope that Government of Alberta follows its own laws. As such was able to retrieve new colour definitions from http://www.corporateidentity.gov.ab.ca/images/GoA_CoproateCommManualv2.pdf

- Using the colours in the guideline I have modified the background colour of the flag Pantone 286, modified the wheat to Pantone 7406, and changed the sky to Pantone 2757. --Tvwade (talk) 17:57, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
