Flag of the Socialist Republic of Serbia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The flag of the Socialist Republic of Serbia was officially adopted on 17 January 1947. The basic design was very simple: it used the traditional flag of Serbia (red, blue, white tricolour) with an added red star placed in the center to symbolize socialism. It was in use until the collapse of communism, at which point the star was removed and the flag returned to its original form. The Socialist Republic officially came to an end in 1990, when Serbia became a democratic constituent republic, though the flag would remain in use until 1992.
