Talk:Five Talents

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With regards to the conflict of interest banner, I do work for five talents & it was me that created this page. However, I have limited what I have said to statements of fact about the organisation and how and where it works, and feel that, as long as I stick purely to facts, there is no conflict of interest. As well, of course I would welcome other people with knowledge of five talents to edit the page. With regards to the other banners; references and categories- I am new to wikipedia & haven't figured out the requirements- I thought I had inputted a reference, but it has been deleted & so try again. The subject of the article is about a charitable organisation, so I will try and classify this accordingly. Five.talents 11:59, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Neutral POV

I have no relationship with this organization, and as far as I know I am unacquainted with anyone that does. (I only discovered this article because I was browsing through Category:Category needed.) I have wikified the article and added a couple of news items from a quick Internet search. Most of the news coverage seems to be from other Christian organizations. There is also some publicity material on YouTube, which I have ignored. --RichardVeryard 12:01, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability

I am an Episcopalian, and this is certainly notable within Anglicanism. I'm going to work on it, too. Bearian 22:13, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Another edit

I have added a brief section on Five Talents' work and a further reading section. Again I have stuck purely to facts and therefore the article remains unbiased. Five.talents 10:10, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Conflict of interest doesn't just affect the truth and objectivity of the statements made in the article. The problem is that things that seem important to an employee of the organization may not be sufficiently interesting and well-documented for an encyclopedia article. Other editors may take a different view. Furthermore, I would be much happier if the article was clearly based on independent news reports - if possible from the general press rather than the Christian press - rather than on your inside knowledge and the organization's own website.--RichardVeryard 16:43, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
I am also unclear about the relevance of the further reading. Is this a book specifically describing the work of Five Talents, or is it merely a general background to microfinance and aid? --RichardVeryard 16:43, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Group lending model

I have added a link to the article on the assumption that the group lending model is the same as Solidarity lending. If this assumption is incorrect, please amend. If there is a difference between the group lending model and the solidarity lending model, it might be worth explaining the difference. --RichardVeryard 16:48, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
