It is home to the Five Corners branch library and many shops and restaurants to the west on Newark Avenue. Many of these stores serve the local Filipino American community, including one of the first Filipino Family owned Philippine-American groceries, Phil-Am Food Mart now known as Phil-Am Merchandising and Casa Victoria, serving the community for over 30 years. In addition, a popular bakery chain in the Philippines, Red Ribbon, opened its only store on the East Coast in 2006 off of Newark Avenue on Summit Avenue. The neighborhood also contains to the William J. Brennan Courthouse, Hudson County Administration Building, and many county agencies and departments.
