Fisk Generating Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fisk Generating Station, located at 1111 West Cermak Road in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States, is a legacy coal-fired powerplant not covered by current Clean Air Act emission standards. A 2002 Harvard School of Public Health study (Levy, J.I. et al., Atmospheric Environment) found communities near these older coal power plants showed significant health risks such as increased mortality and asthma rates. Fisk Generating Station was one of the named plants in the study, as well as the Crawford Generating Station in the Little Village neighborhood.
