Fishin' in the Dark is a single by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, from their 1987 album Hold On.[1] It was the band's third Number One single on the country music charts,[2] [3], and was written by Jim Photoglo and Wendy Waldman.[4]
The premise of the song is a couple planning to go fishing in the middle of the night down by a river as spring turns to summer.

- Canadian country band Emerson Drive recorded their version of the song on their 2004 What If? album. A live version recorded in Dallas, Texas during 2004 was released as a digital single in 2005.
- Garth Brooks recorded his version of the song for his 2005 The Lost Sessions album.
