Fishers High School (FHS) is the second high school in Hamilton Southeastern Schools in Fishers, Indiana. The student count for the 2007-2008 year is 1,918, but has a capacity for 2000 students. Fishers High School was re-established in 2006, after the old high school that was located on Lantern Road was demolished in 1969. Fishers High School has been approved by the International Baccalaureate Organization as an IB World School. Fishers began offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in the fall of 2007. The Fishers school mascot is a tiger. The Tigers athletic teams participate in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. [1]

Fishers High School runs on a traditional schedule with seven classes per day beginning at 7:40 am and ending at 2:55 pm. There are five 30-minute lunch periods during 4th and 5th period. In addition, there is a Student Mentor and Resource Time (SMaRT) period every Tuesday after third period, which is a special information period for freshmen and study hall for upperclassmen.

  • The Fishers High School Spellbowl team placed 4th in the state of Indiana after the Indiana Academic Spellbowl State Championship on November 10, 2007.
  • The Fishers High School Destination Imagination team placed second at Destination Imagination's Regional Tournament in the Switching TraDItions improvisational competition, moving them on to the state competition in InDIana, it then placed fourth overall at State.
  • The Fishers High School Quiz Bowl team was a finalist at the National Academic Championships Tournament and became runner-up at the Cardinal Quiz Bowl Tournament in 2007. They won the Cardinal Quiz Bowl Tournament in 2008 and placed third at the White River Academic League Tournament.
  • Fishers High School's student created assignment notebook was placed in a statewide competition, and made it to the top 8 in the state of Indiana. The assignment notebook was designed by Senior Ross Shafer.
  • The Fishers High School We the People team placed 4th at state after receiving a wild card to state in its first year
  • The Fishers High School speech team also placed well at state, finishing 6th, as well as sending 5 participants to Nationals in 2008

School Athletic Awards

  • Competition Cheerleading won State in 2006.
  • The Fishers hockey team won State in 2006 for 5a.
  • The Fishers High School marching band received a silver award at ISSMA regionals. This was the highest accolade ever received for the marching band.
  • Competition JV Cheerleading won state in 2007.
  • In 2007 the Fishers Wrestling team traveled to Toledo, OH to compete in the St. John Jesuit Invitation. The JV and Varsity teams both placed 2nd at the tournament.
  • The Fishers High School Cross Country team placed seventh in the state of Indiana at the IHSAA cross country state finals in 2006.
  • The Fishers High School Cross Country team won the 2007 IHSAA State Championship.
  • The Fishers High School Winter Pecussion Ensemble placed 1st in the IPA state pre-liminaries, and 4th in IPA state finals in 2008
  • The Southeastern Rugby Club, which includes members from both Fishers High School and Hamilton Southeastern High School, won the Division II State title in 2008 with a 12-2 record. Throughout the main season, they were never scored on at home, and they went undefeated against other Division II teams.
