Fish Police
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fish Police is the name of a comic book series by cartoonist Steven Moncuse, and its six episode cartoon adaptation.
[edit] Plot
Both works center around law and crime in a fictional underwater metropolis with the protagonist, Inspector Gill, trying to solve various, often mafia-related crimes and avoid seduction by the extremely well-endowed Angel. The comic and the television show featured several sorts of marine species as its characters, while the plots and dialogue were reminiscent of film noir.
The comic book version of Fish Police lasted from 1985 to 1990, and featured the early work of Sam Kieth (The Maxx) as inker.
[edit] Animated television series
The world of Fish Police was adapted to the cartoon format in 1992 as one of the attempts of the time to repeat the success of The Simpsons by creating cartoons for the prime time evening slot with a broader, and generally older target audience. Six episodes were produced for CBS television, and starting with February 1992, three of the episodes aired, after which the show was taken off air because it wasn't successful in the ratings. The remaining three episodes have never aired in the United States, but they did air in syndication, for example the European programming of Cartoon Network and Boomerang.
