[edit] History
Founded in Boston in 1878 by Frederick P. Fish, one of the most well-known and highly respected patent attorneys in history, the firm has represented some of the greatest inventors of all time – Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, and the Wright brothers. The firm prosecuted many of the fundamental patents of industrial America including the telephone, the air-brake system, the steam turbine, the automobile, and the radio.
Beginning in the 1980s, Fish began expansion into the practice areas of corporate law, regulatory law, securities law, and general litigation, emerging as a general practice firm. Nevertheless, intellectual property remains an important practice area of the firm, and has ranked number one for six out of seven years by IP Law & Business as the top patent litigation firm in the country.
