From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Due to work and personal commitments my editing habits may be quite erratic; some weeks I make hundreds of edits while other weeks I don't make any edits at all. Please bear with me if I'm away for long periods. If you need to contact me, leave a note on my talk page; if it is urgent, feel free to email me directly.

Did I remember my references?

About me
Hello! My name is Doug and I am a New Zealander. I have qualifications in pharmacology, psychology and philosophy. I have been a Wikipedian since August 2004 and I was doing occasional anon edits for several months before then.

What's with the name?
It doesn't mean anything really. It's just a vague reference to the philosophy of Aristotle and other thinkers. See the article first principles for a rough idea.

Advance apologies

  1. Sorry for sounding grumpy
One of the curses of communicating via text is that it is very easy to misinterpret someone's tone. It seems that I often write messages which, while written with the best intent, can unwittingly seem icy or hostile. If you get that impression, I apologise. Usually I intend my comments to be non-judgemental and constructive.
  2. Sorry for being dumb
Even though I have been a Wikipedian for quite a while now, I still have a lot to learn about Wikipedia's ever-evolving policies and operating procedures. This means that sooner or later I will screw up or do something plain stupid. If I do, please accept my advance apology, and my assurance that if I do mess something up I will do my best to fix it.
