[edit] Citations

Honestly, shouldn't the citations be something better than a Livejournal entry? This kind of thing can be hard to source, but the citations there now are a bit of a stretch. They seem kind of desperate. -Otterboy 08:34, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

At least half of this can be legitimately sourced from Wayne Hendrickson's Don't Tell the Parents and back-issues of Fish Rap Live!, City on a Hill Press, and the Santa Cruz Sentinel. I have Proctor Wayne's book and a lot of old newspaper clippings from the MRC Greenwood Era in a box somewhere (likely still in my parents' basement after all these years). If this article can manage to avoid getting the axe at AfD in the meantime, I'll look for the box-o'-sources next time I go north to visit the folks. Really, though, a Livejournal citation...? --Dynaflow babble 07:38, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for starting this article--- it's good to document some of the nontraditional UCSC traditions. However, this WP article is heavily biased towards Porter College, probably because Proctor Wayne worked at Porter. I attended UCSC from 1991-1995, and I remember things differently-- there was none of this silly stuff like "it must have been raining from at least 6:00pm-10:00pm" or "Meet at Porter at 10:10PM". "First Rain" was campus wide, and far more spontaneous --- come as you are, when you want, without any coordination. Most people just rain around as they were... nudity was irrelevant. People gathered in the common areas... Porter Meadow, the Kresge throughways, College 8 granite circle and the Fountain or whereever. The event occurred during one of the first rainstorms, typically a light, warm rainstorm (since that brought more people out) day or night. Sadly, I tossed my copies of the First Wrap, and I realize that my own memories are about as objective then the Livejournal reference. Just adding my bit... --Gigglesworth (talk) 18:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
