Can anyone provide a quote for the battle of 87 AD being at Tapae? I accept that Fuscus lost a battle in Dacia with Legion V (Philip Matyszak, The Enemies of Rome, p. 217) but to my knowledge there is no record of where this battle took place exactly. What indication is there that it took place at Tapae??? - PocklingtonDan 12:29, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Tactius says only "The news came in, the loss of all those armies in Moesia and Dacia" (Tacitus, Agricola, 41). Unless someone can provide a cite I will move the "battle of 87" contents to Fuscus Campaign in Dacia or similar, I do not believe it belongs here - PocklingtonDan 12:31, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm currently researching this and related questions, and will be resolving this by weeks end. I've located some good pdf sources on line, and will be using JSTOR to pin things down, including the appropriate names used by classical studies experts. Some developments on that already, such as Tapae is a mountain pass, where I'd thought it a strong point/fortress. Or perhaps is/was both. Cheers! // FrankB 22:21, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
