This article seems to mainly cover US and British fireteams; a more international perspective would be nice.

I read in one of the war nerd columns that the taliban used 3-man fire teams, consisting of two riflemen protecting the guy with the RPG, but later switched to teams with two RPG guys and only one rifleman. His column didn't provide a source for that factoid. Rast 06:23, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Merging/Possibly Renaming

The article at Fire and maneuver team should definitely be merged into this one. However, I propose it be renamed to Team (military unit) as Fireteam is only one specific kind of Team. It's used by lots more units than just infantry, at least in the US Army. Nathanm mn 18:52, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

IIRC Napoleanic Lite troops were often 2 man teams —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.85.221.250 (talk) 19:24, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not the smallest unit used

The Swedish army uses a unit called Stridspar, "combat pair", as their smallest. It is composed of two soldiers, with one being the leader. A squad is composed of several stridspar.

Is Sweden the only country to use this system? 81.236.225.80 (talk) 10:21, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
