[edit] FireLink

The project is definitely called FireLink see[1] But I've added Firelink as an alternative in the opening line. The project is being adopted in England, Wales and Scotland - it's not an England only initiative. Escaper27 15:56, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Online information isn't always correct

Hi Escaper27

You are correct that the Government website shows FireLink.

The inconsistencies developed in line with the rise of the related FiReControl project. As you will note, this has strategically placed capitals in the project name.

The title Firelink did not begin life with a capital 'L' and nor should have one now. Please see the Firelink section of FRS Online at www.frsonline.fire.gov.uk/resilience . You will see that this site is keep up to date every month or so. This site is also owned by Government. The content on Communities and Local Government was updated earlier this year and is about to be again. The correct capitalisation of Firelink has been requested.

Re-establishing the precedence for the way the Firelink name should be written would be ideal. The corrections in Wikipedia have been part of this effort. It would be nice to have consistency.

By all means if you have reason I am unaware of as to why Firelink should be written as FireLink, please let me know. I would be very interested.

[edit] O2 no longer own Airwave

Hi Escaper27

Please note that it is inaccurate to state that Airwave is owned by O2 or that O2 Airwave is the current supplier of the Firelink solution. O2 sold the Airwave part of its business to Macquarie on the 18 April 2007 (see http://www.macquarie.com.au/au/mcg/assets/airwave.htm).

The business has been legally renamed to Airwave Solutions Limited. Please view the new Airwave site with the new brand and no reference to O2: http://www.airwavesolutions.co.uk/Pages/default.aspx

It is evident that the old O2 Airwave website is still accessible through web search. The necessary parties will be informed. There may be reason for the site to still be active for a period of time.

If that's the case then the article should be rewritten and sourced, but the contract was signed with O2 Airwave - as recently as Feb 2007 so a note should be added to say the company is now in different hands. I'm sure the 'necessary parties' will be delighted to hear from you. Regards Escaper27 (talk) 17:37, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
