A screenshot of the Firebug web development extension for Mozilla Firefox.

Only Firefox logo (Image:Firefox-logo.svg) needs to be in low resolution; screenshots of the browser itself do not. The logo in the upper-lefthand corner is already in low resolution without shrinking the original screenshot size.

In other words, we don't need a fair use claim for the Firefox portions of this image (and therefore screenshots of it can be in high resolution) because of how Firefox is licensed.

If resizing is necessary, resize the image to 768x550 pixels (75%) or 800x573 pixels(~78%).

The Mozilla Foundation and the Wikimedia Foundation each hold copyright over different portions of this image. However, these foundations have released parts of their respective portions under different licenses:

Firefox (Mozilla Foundation)

This file contains a logo for a Mozilla product (such as the Mozilla Firefox browser or the Mozilla Thunderbird email client) and is protected by copyright and/or trademark by the Mozilla Foundation and/or its subsidiary Mozilla Corporation. According to the Mozilla trademark policy, the logo is free to use as long as:

It is non-confusing and non-disparaging
It is not used commercially
It is not modified
It is not high resolution

Furthermore, the Mozilla Trademark Policy FAQ reads, "Can I put Firefox or Thunderbird banners on my website? Can I link to you?" Answer: "Thanks for your support :-) Of course you may. We have button programs for exactly this". Also, Mozilla's Firefox Buttons page reads "Put one or more of these buttons on your website to help us spread the word about Firefox. We appreciate it!"

Despite this, the restrictions on this logo make it non-free by Wikimedia's Definition of Free Cultural Works, and therefore it may only be displayed in the main namespace in accordance with Wikipedia:Non-free content.

Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation)

This is a screenshot of a copyrighted Wikipedia web page. Wikipedia text is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). The MediaWiki software that runs Wikipedia is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

The Wikipedia logo (if it appears in this screenshot) has not been released under any free license.

Note on licenses: Please note that the GFDL is only for text documentations or other forms of text and their derivatives, while software and its derivatives, text, and other types of works may use the GPL. The actual contents of Wikipedia are licensed under the GFDL, but the interface design of Wikipedia and all other portions of the MediaWiki software are licensed under the GPL.

As such, portions of this screenshot may be licensed under two separate licenses. The GPL and GFDL are not the same license; they are only connected through the Free Software Foundation, the creator of the licenses.
