Firswood
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Firswood is an area of Trafford, in Greater Manchester, England.
Firswood is located in between Old Trafford & Stretford. It is a small suburban area and the Old Trafford Metrolink station on the Manchester Metrolink and Altrincham Metrolink lines is often classed as being in Firswood. Firswood also has a disused railway running through the area which goes as far as Stockport & starts in nearby Old Trafford. Plans are in place for this to become part of the Big Bang Metrolink extension which will see Firswood have its own station and the line go up to Manchester Airport and Wythenshawe. Firswood is home to the Quadrant circle which is the most recognisable place in the area. It holds several shops, the Quadrant pub and a disused library which has been closed for several years. The name Quadrant is from the fact it has four roads which connect to it. It is also next to Longford Park which has an entrance just off the Quadrant.
