First Time User Experience
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
First Time User Experience (FTUE) is a term used across the computer industry, especially internally, at places such as Microsoft, Apple, and other consumer applications[citation needed]. This is an offshoot of Out-Of-Box Experience (OOBE).[citation needed] The differences are, for OOBE, it describes the packaging, information presentation, and setup of the system out of the box - that term can be used for any type of packaging, not just software. FTUE, is a term used to describe the configuration steps (like signing up for a Yahoo Mail/Hotmail account, or configuring your DVR for your cable station/DirectTV, or putting in defaults for Microsoft Office, or any other software package that requires some user settings prior to it working correctly).
FTUE (pronounced FuTooEE[citation needed]) describes the steps and process for getting your software or software/hardware system to work, once the OOBE steps have been taken.
