First Student

First Student is a United States subsidiary of the UK company FirstGroup. According to the company's website, it is the largest provider of school bus services in the US, with more than 62,000 buses. First Student is a sister company to First Transit, which provides public transit services in the same geographic market.

First Student was created in 1999 when FirstGroup acquired Ryder's student transportation division. More school bus companies were subsequently acquired, and when in 2007 FirstGroup acquired Laidlaw, Laidlaw's school bus operations were merged with First Student.
