First Republic Bank is a San Francisco, California based bank. The bank, founded in 1985, has approximately 30 branches mostly in California's Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.

The company offers brokerage services, commercial banking and personal banking, investment management, trust banking, for wealthy clients. The bank's lending focuses on financing the construction, purchase, and renovation of luxury homes. First Republic also owns the equity investment money management firms of Trainer Wortham & Company (acquired 1999) and Starbuck, Tisdale & Associates (acquired 2002). First Republic and its subsidiaries had total bank assets and other managed assets of $34.1 billion.

First Republic Bank is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and is listed under ticker symbol FRC. It is a member of the Standard & Poors S&P 600.

In January of 2007 Merrill Lynch announced that it would purchase First Republic Bank for $1.8 Billion Dollars. The companies completed the merger in October 2007.
