Daniel Trakell Doyle Ben Hall |
Quite possibly the first rock'n'roll band ever to incorporate a clarinet, Fire Underground have built a solid live reputation during their 3 years together. As a two piece Daniel Trakell (guitar/vocals/clarinet) and Doyle (drums/backup vocals) played over 140 shows all over Australia, and in late 2006 completed their first ever overseas tour, taking in shows in the US, Canada before heading to Europe to play London, Berlin and Amsterdam.[1]
Drawing influence from two of the biggest and most popular music styles of the last century, rock'n'roll and swing music and combining it with the high energy and intensity of punk bands like The Stooges, Refused and The Hives, Fire Underground have developed their own style that is highly entertaining to watch live, is powerful but fun, and thoroughly danceable.
Thanks to their high energy shows and wide ranging musical style appealing to a broad demographic they've been able to play with bands of many genres such as Youth Group, The Grates, The Black Keys (USA), Alexisonfire (CAN), Midnight Juggernauts and Frenzal Rhomb to name just a few. During this time they released two EPs which received airplay on Triple J and Rage and had their song 'Chase Scene' selected as the theme for Channel 31's music TV show 'On The Couch'[2], watched by an estimated 200,000 people a week.[3]
In 2007 the band found their new material demanding a bigger sound and consequently added Ben Hall on bass to the line up. The band appeared at the 2007 Pushover Festival.[4] Fire Undergound have released a new EP, Seize The Day, with the single "Beauty Queen" also receiving airplay on Triple J and Rage.[5]
