Fire Tripper (炎トリッパー Honoo Torippā, literally meaning 'Flame Tripper'?) is an anime OVA based on a manga story by Rumiko Takahashi. In North America, it was released on VHS by Central Park Media under the "Rumik World" series (which also included OVAs Laughing Target, Maris the Chojo, and Mermaid Forest). Fans of Inuyasha will see a similarity between this one-shot story and the plot of Inuyasha as both feature a Japanese schoolgirl who's magically transported back in time and who meets and falls in love with a rough but lovable boy who becomes her protector during the Japanese "Warring States" era.

At the release of the manga Inuyasha, many considered it to be a rip-off of Takahashi's earlier one-shot manga, Fire Tripper and criticized her for her lack of an original idea. Non the less, Inuyasha became widely popular and sucessful, more so than the said "predecessor" Fire tripper.
