Talk:FIPS (computer program)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi! I entered this page, because I also would have been happy to find some info on it, and fips is a well known program. So I think you should rather improve this article instead of deleting it.
- I liked the article, so since he didn't actually list the article for deletion on the right page I removed the VfD tag :). Thue | talk 20:47, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] FIPS Limitations
The FIPS web page says that it can deal with FAT23, but the article mentions that it only supports FAT16 and thus there is a 2G limit on the partitions it can handle. Please verify and correct if need be.
- There's an unoffical patch here, and an unoffical FIPS release (1.5c). It looks like the original FIPS author then went and put that up on his website, but didn't bother updating the copy of the documentation and changelog on his website. -- makomk 11:22, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

- It gets better. There's a version out there - FIPS 2.0 - that seems to be an official version and have FAT32 support. Unfortunately, the website given here hasn't been updated, and the new website listed is 404. (The website we've got listed seems to be bitrotting anyway - for example, the download link is dead). -- makomk 11:43, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
