Joan Fiona Dickson, or Fiona Dickson (best known as Fiona Castle) (born 1940) is a retired British dancer who is most notable for her marriage to the late TV entertainer Roy Castle. They married in 1963 [1] and they were together until his death from cancer in September 1994.
Mrs Castle has carried on her husband's campaign and until recently was actively involved in the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation which her husband set up shortly before his death. Her involvement with the foundation has seen her raise the profile of the illness, and call for stricter legislation on smoking, as Mr Castle blamed his illness on years of playing the trumpet in smoky jazz clubs.
She was very much in favour of controversial legislation which saw smoking banned from virtually all enclosed public places in Britain since July 2007.
