[edit] Usage

To link to the FindLaw edition of a U.S. Supreme Court decision, use the standard U.S. Reports notation thus:

{{Findlaw_us|volume|page}}

Therefore, to link to the decision in Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98, enter:

{{Findlaw_us|531|98}}

Which will produce:

531 U.S. 98

[edit] Optional parameters

The third parameter, which may be left blank, is the title of the case, such as “Bush v. Gore.” There are two named parameters, link and year. The former specifies the Wikipedia article that the title should link to, if any. The latter appears as a wikilinked year after the FindLaw link. For example:

{{Findlaw us|531|98|Bush v. Gore|link=Bush v. Gore|year=2000}}

That produces this:

Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98 (2000)

If link is not specified, then the title is not linked. If year is not specified, then the year is simply omitted from the output.

[edit] Extra parameters?

OK, so I did what I could to create this. It would be nice if someone out there with wicked Template-fu could esotericise it with optional params for case title, case wikilink, and year, so that it spits out the full formal cite in the form

Brown v. Board of Education, 347 U.S. 483 (1954)

Wouldn't that just be lovely? Hmm?  :) --KGF0 ( T | C ) 07:55, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Done. Comments? --Rob Kennedy 02:35, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] So is this deprecated now?

Has this functionality been replaced by {{ussc}}? If so, should I migrate the existing uses? --Selket Talk 00:00, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
