[edit] Merging
Merging the two articles would be a very good idea. In fact, it would serve for better resource efficiency and clarity of topic to merge them, and the other Finnsh descent articles into one Unified page. I have come to notice that there exists a list of "Finnish Americans" and then a list of "Americans of Finnish descent". Upon inquiry of the two classes I have seen that there is little difference of classification. I had expected that the Finnish Americans were perhaps born in Finland and had immagrated here to the U.S. and that that was the distinguishing feature, however, that has not been the fact. I believe if someone should have the vision and time to invest, it woud be an honorable endeavor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.33.213.101 (talk) 17:40, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] singular
This article should be made singular like all the other ----- Americans. --LaotianBoy1991
[edit] should?
Should Torvalds be listed in this article? Does he have a US passport? It only says he stayed in the US a couple of years, and that wouldn't make him American, would it? --Drogo
[edit] claimed
This article claimed that John Morton was a Finland Swede. His family name is originally Marttinen, a typical Finnish name, and his family was from Rautalampi, a completely Finnish speaking village. Therefore I erased that sentence.
[edit] claim
I've seen someone claim Finnish Americans outnumber Finns. From the article, I can see this is blatantly false - there are 700 thousand Finnish Americans and 5 million Finns. JIP | Talk 15:19, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] why?
Why are there 5 million Finns here? Anyway, does anyone know the name of the fake bowling(?) god fesitval they have? We've done it in Michigan. Everyone takes the day off, drinks beer, and claim it's some religious holiday that everyone knows is false. I'm 99% this is Finnish but if I'm wrong it's Swedish or Norwegian. Any help appreciated, thx 82.93.133.130 20:02, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Finnic Americans?
I'm not sure if the term "Finnic Americans" is in official use, but if it is, Finnish Americans are a subcategory of them. The Finnish people are one of the Finnic peoples. If this term is in official use, it needs to be mentioned in the article. Gringo300 06:30, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- What do you mean with "Finnic"? An ethnic/lingual group also containing Estonians and Saami? 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * 22:32, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Finns?
Well in USA,there are maybe even over 1 million ethnicly finns, but some of those swedish-americans owns finnish roots so there might be even more finnish americans.

[edit] Article Merger
Oppose, these can be two very different concepts and it would be unencyclopedic to do such a merge. Mikebar (talk) 18:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
