Finmere is an English village in Oxfordshire, very close to the border with Buckinghamshire. At the center of the village is a fourteenth century church dedicated to St Michael and All Angels and a section of the Roman road runs through the eastern side of the village. The village includes the hamlet of Little Tingewick.
The village once had a station on the former Great Central Railway, the last main line to be constructed from the north of England to London, opened in March 1899. The station was originally referred to as Finmere for Buckingham, although Buckingham itself is about five miles away. The station closed in March 1963, the line itself in September 1966.
The name Finmere is understood to mean "pool frequented by woodpeckers". There is also one Pub in Finmere which is called the Red Lion.
