Finjan is a privately owned web security company headquartered in San Jose, California. Finjan sells web security products, marketed under the brand name "Vital SecurityTM", to enterprises of all sizes.
Its installed base comprises millions of enterprise users worldwide, including Fortune 1000 companies in the finance, banking, insurance, healthcare, airline and high-tech sectors, as well as large government agencies. Through its award-winning Secure Web Gateway appliances, Finjan protects customers' vital data assets from the growing cybercrime threat, including Crimeware and Web 2.0 attacks.
Finjan's Malicious Code Research Center (MCRC) is dedicated to the research and detection of web threats. Finjan was founded in 1996 by Shlomo Touboul, who served as its first CEO. The current President & CEO is John Vigouroux. Other key members of the management team include Yuval Ben-Itzhak, CTO and Marcio Lempert, General Manager Operations & International Sales.
Finjan's international operations include offices in North America, Europe, Asia and an R&D facility in Israel.

Finjan's fully integrated Vital SecurityTM Web Appliances leverage patented real-time security technologies (real-time content inspection security, Vulnerability Anti.doteTM, Anti-Spyware, and SSL Inspection engines) to protect against any type of malicious code. Anti-Virus and URL Filtering are also available as optional modules. Finjan RUSafeTM audits incoming and outgoing Web traffic using Finjan's unmatched security technologies, without requiring any changes to their security infrastructure and network topology.

Finjan invented the concept of proactive content security with its behavior-based content analysis technology. This and other selected technology patents were licensed to Microsoft in July 2005 [1].
As of February 2008, Finjan's intellectual property portfolio[2] includes many granted and pending patents worldwide in the areas of behavior-based security and digital rights management.
A jury decision[3] in a US patent infringement trial has been made at March 12th, ruling that SecureComputing has willfully infringed several of Finjan's patents
